The Glenside Celtic Soccer Club’s Winter Academy has been in full swing since January 5.

The academy includes 200 players registered within the club’s 18 travel teams (and an additional 17 in the Wee Kicks program designed for 5–7-year-olds) and is led by Coach Joel and Coach Siafa from Fuel Tech Soccer.

“This a genuinely community-based club,” Gallagher, a Glenside native, said. “A lot of the new clubs are actually for-profit corporations with a Philly branch. It’s not exactly what U.S. Soccer wants to see. They want grassroots efforts.”
