**Please note the change for the 2011 and 2012 boys time on March 29th
**Due to registration numbers on April 5th, we are condensing the day to two time slots for boys and girls.
What to bring/wear
- Players should wear their shin guards and cleats
- Each player should bring a soccer ball
- We will not have water stations set up, so please bring a water bottle
- If you are a current Glenside Celtic player, please bring your green/white practice pinny
- Please try not to wear a hoodie sweatshirt, as the hood may block your bib number
What to expect
Tryouts will take place at Temple Ambler on the Rec Field, closer to Meetinghouse Road – you will see the Glenside Celtic Flag at the entrance to the parking lot. Please park closer to the bus depot, where the registration table will be set up.
Upon arrival, please check in at the registration table so your player can get their bib number and Celtic T-Shirt, which we will ask them to wear during the tryout.
We encourage all players and families to arrive 20 minutes prior to your timeslot to check in at the tent and to warm-up.
Players from Penn State Abington will be running drills, alongside our coaches, who will serve as evaluators. Players will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Passing
- Attacking and Ball Mastery
- Defensive Ability
- Mental Awareness

By Ryan Genova | The Glenside Celtic Soccer Club is expanding a little more each year.
Founded in 2019 by Brendan Gallagher, Chris Scullion and Donal Walsh, the organization was initially an arm of the Glenside Gaelic Club. Logistics and internal rules led the trio to form a separate nonprofit to promote and preserve Irish culture in greater Glenside with an aim to replicate the strong Glenside community as part of the club.
“This a genuinely community-based club,” Gallagher, a Glenside native, said. “A lot of the new clubs are actually for-profit corporations with a Philly branch. It’s not exactly what U.S. Soccer wants to see. They want grassroots efforts.”

Celtic Travel Soccer Overview
The Glenside Celtic Soccer Club is dedicated to the development of young athletes and a healthy, active lifestyle within a structured and competitive environment. We strive to encourage good sportsmanship and fair play among all participants.
Our Travel Soccer program focuses on long-term player development through advanced training sessions and competitive league play during the Fall, Winter, and Spring Soccer Seasons. Registration costs range from $155-$400 depending on the season, with an additional cost for uniforms.
Glenside Celtic Soccer Club’s Fall and Spring Travel Teams participate primarily in the Inter-County Soccer League, which includes teams from Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties.

Glenside Celtic Soccer will host Player Evaluations & Tryouts for all current and new players on Saturday, March 29th and Saturday, April 5th at Temple University’s Ambler Campus. Athletes are only required to attend ONE session; this is their chance to showcase their skills and potential for the upcoming season. Players’ time slots, organized by year of birth, are listed below.

The Player Evaluations & Tryouts is an opportunity for the club to evaluate all players and ensure each player is playing at the appropriate level of play for their skill level, ideally providing a spot for all our current Celtic players. This is also an opportunity to welcome new players to Glenside Celtic Soccer Club – so please tell your friends!
Next Steps
Sign up for Player Evaluations & Tryouts at glensideceltic.com/registration by March 19th. A $10 registration fee is included to secure your spot and a Glenside Celtic T-Shirt!
Players should show up 15 minutes before their session time, prepared and ready to play. Please bring a soccer ball, water bottle, and wear shin guards and cleats.
Once Player Evaluations & Tryouts are complete, email notices will be sent on April 10, 2025, with details about your player’s team for the Fall 2025 season and steps to register.
Final registration for the Fall Season (including a deposit) will be due on April 14, 2025!
